Block 4- France 1913. WWI Simulation
Stakes are already high as country leaders are forming and taking positions. The Great Powers and the Allied Powers already understand their battle for power. We have not yet spoken directly to each other. Agreements are made within the alliances as neutral countries keep to themselves. I worry for smaller countries and their abilities to stay sufficient. France isn’t as strong as our allied countries. Russia has large land numbers and Great Britain’s Navy is a force to be reckoned with. We just hope we will be able to hold our own and be useful in this upcoming war.
Block 4- France 1914
As countries begin discussing ally-ship and pairing off France is doing the same. The leaders of the country are weary of their partners in the Allied Powers. Britain seems reckless and isolates themselves from the others. While Russia is abrasive and seems to lead the Allies. No attacks are made yet but all can feel the tension amongst the countries. Small countries are already reaching out for guidance from larger ones. They are scared. We are all scared in these troubling times with knowing what will inevitably come. Even the United States held a conference with Allied Powers. They seemed unknowing of what to do while being on the other side of the world. France will accept their help but keeps an eye on where their loyalty’s will lie. France feels they cannot truly trust Russia either. They are too self centered and France knows they would sacrifice others for their country. Serbia made their rebuttal speech of the assassination of the Arch Duke of Hungary-Austria. They seem to want peace but will resort to violence. With France’s loyalty to Montenegro we may be dragged into their feud.
Block 4- France 1915
War begins. Germany decided to attack Russia. France is not surprised by their hastiness. Germany is a very competant army with strong leaders. They will not waste time and instead take action. We only hope that they will not target us because our armies are not strong enough yet. The thing that protects us the most is the Ardennes forest. Belgium wishes to form an alliance with us but we are unsure whether to make it public or not. They say they cannot afford to let Germany march troops on their land. But we are unsure whether we should ally or conquer. Their army is weak and with Belguim destroyed we could reclaim that land and grow closer to Germanic armies. Land was gained and lost between Germany and Russia. The Ottoman Empire seems to pose a threat as well. We must focus on keeping the trading routes open for all of the Alliance’s sakes. We need more countries to form together for troops. Our armies weak and we are stretched thin across Europe. Britain plans to move their troops out after we have destroyed the German Navy. We must keep vigilant about Austria-Hungary. They have tried to take Romania’s partnership away from us. They were unsuccessful but still a threat with their growing army. We believe with our new poisonus gas and growth of our armies with Italy, Romania, and Belguims allyship, that we can pull through this war together.
Block 4- France 1916
When the meetings started I could tell the leaders were tired. We are at a crossroads as a group. As The Great Powers grow in troop size we gain more allies. Italy, Portugal and Romania are in our ranks. Russia is being cocky and used all their troops to try and wipe out the Ottoman Empire. The Great Powers were victorius and Russia is on the verge of collapsing. I don’t know how I feel about Russia’s rulers. They are impulsive and could only drag the Alliance down.
Block 4- France 1917
We are in chaos. We can’t agree on anything. Russia is becoming desperate. Mexico comes to Germany’s aid which can’t mean anything good for us. Submarine warfar begins, risking our Navy. Russia surrenders. We are starting to try to gather troops to storm Germany. We gather in Belguim since they have been gracious enough to let us. We fear we won’t be able to sustain ourselves though. Italy, France and Britian all seem to be frozen in fear. Since Russia’s fall we have become more cautious, careful not to follow suit in their ignorant battle strategies. We have lost so much already; Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia. We figure the best thing we can do now for our own country is defend. I hope for the best in our future.
Block 4- France 1918
I was away sick during this year of battle, but my Ministry filled me in on the action that ensued. I am sad to see Belguim fall to the German empire. Though I can’t say I’m surprised. I am grateful for Great Britain and America’s help during this war. I was estatic to hear though that France has stayed intact. And our allies of Britian have survived as well. Italy was no so lucky though. I can’t say we have won this war, only surivived it. I believe that it went all wrong before it even started. The Alliance was not a strong team. We argued and let Russia led us into battle. I should have seen their facade of great leadership before hand. I believe it is because of our lack of initiative and The Great Powers overwhelming strength that led to all this. I only hope we can move forward in the future and better all of our countries.
