Cold War Simulation Lesson Plan Student Journal: Canada

Cold War Simulation

Orientation (Canada)

We went over the rules of the simulation and what we have to do. My only two objectives is to help defend my NATO land and to make peace through out the world. Right away we had went out to the hall way and make a plan on what we were going to do. We were going to go easy and work our way up. I was trying to talk our group into not going all in at first, to work our way up there, and it started to work, but then the Soviets had to dive in right away. There went my trying to create peace.

Canada 1 Day 1

We talked about as a whole how and when we were going to bomb and take out the Soviets. I agreed that we shouldn’t have gone to Defcon 1 right away. I have to try and make peace during all this. We had come to an agreement that we would gradually bring the Defcon numbers down. We were going to make it a 3 but we went to a 4. Right away the Soviets had moved down to a 1 and had taken out West Germany. Then everyone had said to move us down to Defcon 1. Once we had done that we had talked out in the hall way and made some plans. I don’t have any missiles or anything, but I can defend and give advise. The Soviets had also gotten a hold of Great Britain. But we took out Cube, the Moscow area and got rid of those tanks, and the other number of tanks on the far side of them too.

Canada 1  Day 2

Right away the Soviets had sent their tanks over to Turkey, both sides are also on Defcon 1. Kayla (United States) had sent the missiles from Turkey and send them to Poland and West Germany. Unites States had turned on their Launch on Warning. There is no chance in me trying to create peace now. We are at a stand off point, where if the Soviets attack the NATO’s launch their nooks. Either way right now, neither side will win. The Soviet’s had let the four horseman ride. And we had launched what we had. There were no winners in the end.

Cold War Simulation Lesson Plan Student Journal: France

Cold War Simulation

France 1 Day 1

I am one of the countries with N.A.T.O., but I want to stand independent. I know that if I stand independent that I will be taken over, or wiped out immediately. I know that if the United States were in a crisis, I will have to help them, and that would mean that my independence would be pushed aside because N.A.T.O. is a consensus voting system would be in place by the United States. I think that the consensus voting system is a good thing, but also a bad thing because that would mean everyone will have a say in what another country needs, or wants to do, and that means that will take a lot of time to finally decide what to do. I don

Cold War Simulation Lesson Plan Journal: East Germany

Cold War Simulation

East Germany, 1, Orientation: I have joined the Warsaw Pact under the command of the Soviet Union. I hold much hope in our leader to expand. I hope to only reach DEFCON 2 and not go further. I plan to follow our leader and help with my tanks as much as possible before there can be a nuclear war.

East Germany, 1, Day 1: Today our Soviet Leader has stated that he will close off Berlin. He told us that we were going to move west in Europe. I feel that the tension is high and fear that they don’t respond to badly to our actions. That hope was short lived because they have moved many of their troops to West Germany. Both NATO and Warsaw Pact have moved to DEFCON 4. Our leader have probably gone crazy because he as just sent ” Stride Package Bravo” and destroyed West Germany with a lot of their troops. In retaliation NATO has done the same and deployed bombers and submarines as well. Cuba, Moscow, and many other countries have been destroyed, I fear we will all die and it will be the end.

East Germany, 1, Day 2: Our leader of Warsaw Pact attacked Turkey with the tanks in that are. Unfortunately they were abel to retaliate and completely wipe out my country of East Germany. I fear that the horrible death is finally coming to an end because both us and NATO have activated the “Launch and Warning”.  I thought that this cold war would never get to this. I did not expect my my country to be hit. Now Warsaw Pact and NATO are at a stand off. Italy has been blocked off and now our leader had ordered the “Let The Horsemen Ride”. This is the end and now my hope is gone. I wish that we never had let this happen.

Well today we discussed how bombs would work, and watched a video. I started forming several ideas, and I think the safest way would just to bomb Russia before they can bomb us. Its going to be hard to get so many people to agree with the plan, especially Canada because they need to keep peace. I don’t want to let the four horseman ride because then it isn’t a strategic game you can win, its just mindless bombing.  Id prefer to make a wall of radiation right away so they can’t get through to my NATO allies.

per 1 Day one

Today we couldn’t agree on bombing Russia, and I was quite annoyed. I wish everyone would focus, so we could get things done easier. We lost Great Britain, West Germany, and France today because people didn’t go along with the plan and just bombed. Tomorrow I hope to take down Russia, or at least make them vulnerable. I didn’t trust France from the beginning because she disagreed with the plans we made so much. I trust China because Cayla, who has been working as my spy, said she would ally with us tomorrow. I hope this doesn’t turn out to an all out bomb fest, but I guess we will have to see how Russia feels.

per 1 Day two

Today it turned into a bomb fest. We were doing good for the most part strategically because when we put on the launch on warning, making it so Russia had to attack with something more then missiles. Then, we moved tanks so we could directly attack Russia, hoping to gain control of their missiles before they did something stupid like bombing us when they know they have no chance. I don’t want to bomb the world, because then whats the point of winning? China did ally with us, which really helped us. We needed to use Italy tanks, so I bombed Yugoslavia and Austria so they could move. I know it was vicious, but it had to be done to try to save more. Then of course Russia got scared, and mindlessly bombed us, which ended everything.

Cold War Simulation Lesson Plan: Hungary

Cold War Simulation

Hungary 1 Orientation: My objectives are to basically stay out of the way of my leader and to not use my military willingly. I’m not going to have much to journal since I’m not really running anything, but I think this is going to get interesting. This isn’t even supposed to be a war, but with my class, we’ll probably end up destroying everything and letting the power of the fact that we have bombs and real weapons to use, get in our heads. All I want to do is follow the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact, and hopefully we won’t have a problem in our group.

Hungary 1 Day 1: Well, as I’m sitting here watching everything go down, there’s not much I can really do but let the Soviet Union use my land. Already we’ve launched a weapon which has made everything interesting. Also, NATO seems to want to counter attack quickly. Even as Jackie’s country died away, NATO is getting furious and want to attack the Soviet Union personally. I think that we’re ready for it because all of us think that they can’t do much damage. Maybe we’re too full of ourselves and our strategies. But, we’ll see
